A little painting I just did of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who. I am on a sick leave with a busted leg and have been keeping myself occupied by re-watching pretty much every season of Doctor Who. That and all the juicy Doctor news and stuff that came from the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend lead me to pain Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. I have always liked Tennant the best as Doctors go but Smith has really grown on me lately.
There are a couple of steps to the finished piece in my blog again [link]
Outstanding job with the lighting! Overall and in the details the work in smooth and sharp where it should be. For example, The skin is textured and contains depth all the way around correctly to my eye. This is something I have never been able to succeed at so be sure to boast proudly! Although this is an original in its overall being (meaning I'm sure you didn't take a picture and "copy" it with your own style from another) however, I do seem to see Smith with this face a lot (although it is signature and I LOVE it). In fact I think that is what makes this piece pop more, its recognizable familiarity- it's The Doctor we all know and love. I think this is an amazing piece, one of the best I have ever looked at- no jokes! Keep up the GREAT work! WHOVIAN"S RULE!!!
i looked at this and thought it was a photo. this may just be, and probably is the best piece of art ive seen since I joined DA. the details are so well drawn (painted, moused, whatever you would say) I only hope that someday id get close to making masterpeices like this!!! very well done!!
Could I ask to know what program you used to make this. I know alot of it is the talent of the artist. but I do like the look of this, so I would like to know.
I normally just paint with Photoshop. I have two basic brushes I use and that's about it As I use Photoshop daily for work it's the most convenient solution for me. Very lazy, I know
Wow, that's brilliant! Thanks for the quick reply! Love the work. I'm just getting into digital art recently... So I have much to learn every bit helps.
